Inclusive Learning Communities
In order to support the instructors who agreed to join the project, we convened Inclusive Learning Communities (ILC) at each partner university
University of Pittsburgh
The Pitt ILC was created as a part of the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) department’s committee focused on inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. The members of the ILC are faculty within the CEE department. Students and staff are also invited to attend a few of the ILC meetings during the semester to give their perspectives on classroom and department climate to aid in strategy implementation.
Colorado School of Mines
The Mines ILC was created through the Trefny Center and Diversity at
Mines where there is a focus on promoting research-based
teaching and learning practices
and the ILC members were
engineering faculty and instructors.
Arizona State University
The ASU ILC was developed through the Research in Inclusive
Science and Engineering Education Center which is focused on
inclusive teaching. The members of
the ILC at ASU are
engineering faculty who are affiliated with the center.
